Here is what that means for marketplace sellers, in plain words.

A virtual place of business (VPOB) is the same thing bought as a service, and an additional place of business (APOB) is every further address added to the same registration. Different labels, one rule: the department wants a real, verifiable address behind every GSTIN.

Marketplace sellers hit this rule the moment they expand. Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho and JioMart ask for a GSTIN of the state a fulfilment centre sits in before your stock can enter it. No state registration means no FC access - and shipping everything from one corner of the country is how sellers lose the Buy Box to faster rivals.

What does the GST officer actually check? Three documents - a rent agreement in your business name, a no-objection certificate from the owner, and a recent utility bill - plus the thing most providers skip: whether the premises are real and whether anyone answers when physical verification happens.

That last part is why cheap virtual-office providers get applications rejected: an address that exists only on paper fails the moment an officer visits. Nextoffis holds 45 commercial premises across 16 states - ours, not sublet desks - with a representative in each state who attends verification.

Expanding to a new state? Start with the state pages on this site - every registration includes the complete document set and query handling until approval. Not sure which states you actually need? Talk to us first: we will tell you which registrations you need, and which you don't.
