Five questions before you buy any state registration
One - does your stock physically enter the state? If you ship into a marketplace fulfilment centre there, yes, you need that state's GSTIN and a place of business behind it. If stock never touches the state, you very likely don't - whatever a provider's sales pitch says.
Two - which warehouse does the marketplace route you to? Amazon and Flipkart publish which fulfilment centres serve your category. Register where your inventory will actually sit, not where the registration is cheapest.
Three - registration or renewal? A place of business is an annual arrangement. Budget for the renewal at the outset; a lapsed address puts the GSTIN itself at risk.
Four - who attends verification? Ask any provider one question: when the officer visits, who opens the door? If the answer is vague, the application is gambling with your timeline.
Five - what happens when a query lands? Most applications get at least one. Ours are answered by our own state representative, included in the fee. If you're paying someone who forwards queries back to you, you're the one doing the compliance.
